The YMCA Nelson Mandela Bay, was established in 1958. The youth leadership and empowerment centre offers a variety of skills development and recreational initiatives which ensure holistic development of young people.
Learners from disadvantaged communities participate in educational programmes and quasi-aftercare at the Centre, which provides them with a safe haven and the facilities to effectively complete homework and extra-curricular activities. School drop-outs benefit from these programmes are successfully reintegrated into the school system.
Situated in Aubrey Street Parkside, the YMCA complex is ideally located and suitably equipped to host seminars, workshops and conferences. In addition, the fully furnished hostel provides accommodation and meals for 80 people.
The YMCA operates an educare centre which is situated in New Brighton approximately six kilometres away. The educare centre offers quality pre-school education while ensuring a sustainable income to the organisation
